Get the Gelt: A Fundraising Workshop

Abby Levine

Thank you for a successful 2015 training! It was truly a unique opportunity for Roundtable organizations to learn from and with each other about how to fundraise for our organizations.

Even in December, prime fundraising season, nearly 60 fundraising staff from across the network gathered to learn and get energized by colleagues.

Get the Gelt: A Fundraising Workshop presented by the Jewish Social Justice Roundtable

Tuesday, December 8, 6:30 PM: Informal dinner and menorah lighting. Special thanks to our sponsor for the dinner, Amalgamated Bank

Wednesday, December 9, 8:30 AM - 4 PM at Congregation Emanu-el: 1 East 65th Street, New York City

The day-long workshop featured Ruth Messinger, President of American Jewish World Service, Idit Klein, Executive Director of Keshet, and other staff with decades of experience in raising money for nonprofit organizations. We focused on the following topics:

  • stewarding and cultivating major individual donors

  • how to improve organizations’ case for support

  • how to manage the workflow of fundraising

This workshop was designed for staff of Roundtable organizations who are actively engaged in fundraising work, which means all experienced development staff, including Executive Directors. This workshop was not a training with outside experts - instead, this was an opportunity for peer learning across the Jewish social justice network.
